Mid-Wilshire
All of our adventures seem to have pivoted around one activity. We planned this adventure around a trip to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art where there was a Men’s Fashion exhibit we wanted to see.
We ate breakfast at The Sycamore Kitchen in the mid-Wilshire/Hancock Park neighborhood.

Right across the street was a store called American Rag Cie. We spent quite a while browsing. “Stylish outpost stocks a variety of trendy designer clothing for men & women in a modern interior” Perfect! I choked on the price of a denim shirt with embroidery designs; definitely showing my age. I grew up in the 70’s when people sewed their own clothes, grandmas did the embroidery and this was (my) height of style.

After breakfast and browsing we drove the few blocks to LACMA. We really enjoyed this special exhibit. I remember we all commented on the men’s smoking jackets. In the modern world, men do no come home in one formal work outfit and change into a new formal outfit for dinner and after. Clothing offers an interesting peek into the past.
We walked outside the museum and found the rock! Do you remember this spectacle? A giant rock on a giant flatbed truck creeping its way on Los Angeles Streets?
It’s called Levitated Mass and here is a review from the LA Times upon its installation.

We left LACMA via the famous light pole installation and grabbed a quick selfie

We found a rooftop bar and restaurant at the Kimpton Hotel Wilshire. The pictures of the rooftop bar on their website look like this:

Although we enjoyed this beautiful view with tasty treats and flavorful drinks, it most definitely did not look like this. There must have been fifty tables crammed on the pool deck and we all looked on as some people sheepishly swam in the tiny pool.
