Bonus: LA River Center

February 2017

We had been reading about Frogtown – a neighborhood along the Los Angeles River. We thought it might be fun to take a walk along the river and pop in at a local coffee joint. First We stopped at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. The visitor center has a small exhibit showcasing the flora and fauna and history of the LA River.

After our walk through the center we found a trail opening on the south bank of the river. Alas the river trail taking us to and through Frogtown was closed due to recent rains. There would be no stop at Spoke Bicycle Cafe like I had hoped. I’m sure it’s a great spot.

Instead we drove to the Los Feliz portion of the river and took a walk along the north bank. Even with the recent rains and rushing water – it wasn’t very pleasant. Homeless encampments along the river banks have made a trashy dump I’m sorry to say.

A Walk Along the LA River

We finished our mini-adventure with breakfast and coffee at the Village Bakery and Cafe in Atwater Village. Delicious!
